My bird to work
I've borrowed the phrase "I take my bird to work" from my colleague Holly O. During post-grad interviews, an oh-so talented graduate student defined his professional interest as a place "I can take my bird to work." He was not only looking for intellectual stimulation, professional advancement, financial mobility, and local impact. He was also looking for a position that would allow him to--literally -- take his pet bird to work. "She gets lonely during the day."
Currently, an independent consultant in communications strategy, community engagement and public media, I can confidently state, "I take my bird to work."
My clients have included Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Public Broadcasting Service, DiC Entertainment, KQED, Inc-San Francisco, and KERA-Dallas, TX. I'm honored to be a member of the teams that produced and distributed such media properties as Maya & Miguel, Clifford the Big, Red Dog, Teletubbies, and In Search of Law and Order.
Locally, my clients include Bohemian Foundation, Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, and Poudre River Library District. Each of these organizations mirrors my commitment to community stewardship and informal learning.
Prior to independent consulting, I developed and managed a system-development partnership for Corporation for Public Broadcasting -- housed within KQED, Inc-San Francisco--focusing on family viewing and membership. Previously, I worked for Sesame Workshop, the producers of Sesame Street. I hold a M.Ed. in Children & Family Studies and a B.S.E. in early childhood development.
